Creechurch Private Wealth – is pleased to announce that Creechurch Sports Academy recipient Yasmin Ingham and her pony, Craig Mor Tom have won the British Championships.
The Charles Owen British Championship was held at Brand Hall and the event is attended by the top British pony riders from across the UK. The championship has produced a number of young riders that have gone on to become Olympic stars.
Yasmin and Tom competed over the three days and finished the competition with a total score of 38.8 penalty points, which gave them the championship and crowned them British National Pony champions.
Stewart Quayle, business development manager at Creechurch Capital said: “This is an amazing achievement and as a company proud of its Manx roots, it’s another significant achievement for the Isle of Man, which continues to produce such exceptional talent.
“We’re very proud to support Yasmin who is clearly a very talented and hardworking sportswoman.”
Yasmin has now gained entry to the Barbury International Horse Trails, which is the most prestigious event in the Pony Championship calendar and is attended by members of the British Olympic squad. This event forms part of the GB team selection trial for this summer’s Pony European Championships due to be held in Italy.
Greeba-based Yasmin Ingham commented: “This is the most amazing feeling and I am so excited and proud with what we’ve achieved. I couldn’t do it without the support of my family, friends and, of course, my sponsors. I also have to thank my remarkable pony Tom, who was brilliant throughout the whole competition.”
Yasmin, who has just turned 16, fits in her training schedule with her GCSE examinations. She is one of the island’s most promising young stars. John Greenwood, CEO of Creechurch said: “It’s fantastic to see Yasmin flying the flag for the island and as a business, we’re committed to nurturing young talent and look forward to supporting Yasmin throughout the rest of the year.”
