Investment Commentary – June 2013

World equity markets finally took a reality check towards the end of May as the US Federal Reserve hinted that it was considering tapering QE measures, sending equity prices falling sharply across the globe. Nonetheless, major world indices still finished the month in positive territory;  the S&P 500 adding +2.34%, the FTSE 100 adding +2.84% and the German DAX faring best gaining +5.50%.  In a reversal of the previous month’s trend, the MSCI World Index cooled -0.29% whilst the MSCI EM Local Index broke its 3-month losing streak and added +0.41%.
