Creechurch Capital supports Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association

September 10, 2013

Creechurch Capital; the boutique fund manager is pleased to announce that it is to become a Team Isle of Man Champion. As a Team Isle of Man Champion, Creechurch Capital will be supporting the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association in the countdown to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The initiative is designed to help raise funds to send a strong team to represent the Isle of Man at the event.
The Champions campaign is also raising awareness of the Games and celebrating the sense of national pride that we will all share next July when Team Isle of Man takes part in the opening ceremony and is seen by millions of TV viewers around the world. The Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association (IOMCGA), which is the charity responsible for the publicity, fundraising, travel and support for the Island’s team, says that the Champions initiative is a vital part of preparations not just for Glasgow 2014, but also for the 2018 Games in Australia, and the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa in 2015, and St Lucia in 2017. The Association relies upon fundraising events and donations to fund Team Isle of Man’s participation.
Stewart Quayle, Business Development Manager at Creechurch Capital, said: “We committed this year to providing young sports people with the opportunity to excel at sport by launching our Sports Academy, which has produced some excellent success stories. We have also been involved with Kelly Holmes Education and the Isle of Man Sporting Excellence programme which has produced a number of promising sports people from the Island. When we were approached by the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association to become a Team Isle of Man Champion we were delighted to support them. As a business we are committed to helping and nurturing sporting talent and we look forward to seeing all the team flying the flag for the Island at such a prestigious sporting event.”
Juliet Holt, President of IOMCGA, said: “We are delighted to announce Creechurch Capital as Team Isle of Man champions. Their support is greatly appreciated and their contribution will enable our Champions’ initiative to play an important role in our fundraising strategy for the next few years.”
IOMCGA will also be responsible for the Commonwealth games baton when it visits the island in May 2014. The baton will leave Buckingham Palace on the 9th October and will visit all 71 competing nations and territories on a 288-day relay, covering 118,000 miles.
