Daniel Lloyd, an alumnus of the Creechurch Capital Sports Academy has joined the prestigious Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship grid, competing at Thruxton on Saturday after signing with the Eurotech Racing Honda squad.
His debut in the series was rewarded by securing the top rookie points to claim the Jack Sears Cup with point scoring results in all three of Sunday’s races.
Daniel, who is now 24-years-old, joined the Sports Academy in 2013 when he was racing with Porsche. His star has been rising with recent wins at the GT Asia series penultimate double header weekend on the Shanghai International Circuit.
Commenting on the signing, Daniel said: “I’m really excited about the signing. I have been looking to do the British Touring Car Championship for a long, long time. It’s a massive championship, the biggest in the UK by far with live ITV coverage at every round and with the huge crowds of over 40,000 fans it attracts it really is something special to be a part of.
“I’ve also got a lot of hard work to do off the track to try and get as much support as possible for the up and coming rounds. It’s really great that we’ve got two local circuits coming up with Oulton Park and Croft both being close to home so the more support we can get in the next few weeks the better.”
Commenting on Lloyd’s success, Mary Brady, COO at Creechurch Capital, said: “Daniel is truly going from strength to strength and this latest deal is evidence of his skill and admirable commitment to his talent. We are thrilled and proud to have been able to support Daniel in the early stages of his career and seeing his success reaffirms the difference that the Sports Academy can make to rising sports stars.”
